About Rebecca Perez

I am a Washington, DC-based artist of Puerto Rican heritage who has been making art for 20+ years. My art is about exploring the trauma and body connection.

Trauma has had a huge impact on my life, but so has the process of healing. Both have taught me to be attentive and attuned to what’s happening inside me. I am interested in how trauma changes the body, as well as the changes that take place in relationships and communities.

The result is art that changes a personal and private discourse into a public one.
