"Maria, Maria, Maria, and me" mixed media abstract housedress painting - 22x30 (Unframed)

$1,300.00

Where do you fall in the lineage of women in your family? This painting looks at the women in my family and asks, “How am I different, how am I the same?”. Central to the painting is the bata (housedress). Working-class Latinas traditionally wear a bata while carrying out their housekeeping and caretaking tasks.

This simple but powerful garment symbolizes family and maternal connections, a longing for home, and a question about how your place in the world looks so different from theirs.

"Maria, Maria, Maria, and me" is made with acrylic paint, carbon transfer, and colored laser paper collaged onto paper.

FREE SHIPPING IN THE CONTINENTAL US.

Size unframed: 22”x30” Year completed: 2023. Artist: Rebecca Perez
